The Care Development Grant conditions are:

  1. The project addresses at least one of the key themes and conforms to guidelines of what the grant will support.
  2. The project has clear aims and a reasonable plan of action.
  3. The project is primarily directed at the target beneficiaries.
  4. The project must be clearly distinct from the core work of organisations with various funding streams and can be readily monitored.
  5. There is evidence that the project is wanted and needed by people or groups other than the applicant organisation.
  6. The project does not duplicate or endanger a service that is currently operating satisfactorily in the same area. The project should complement other services in the area.
  7. The project is additional to services provided by or commissioned by statutory agencies.
  8. The organisation is well managed and financially sound.
  9. The project is well planned and can be easily monitored.
  10. The budget costs are reasonable and realistic, and the organisation has insufficient free reserves to fund the project themselves.
  11. Where appropriate, there is a reasonable plan and ability to achieve ongoing funding, with some likelihood of this being achieved.
  12. There is no other more appropriate source of funding available.
  13. Repeat awards are exceptional and will be dependent upon the successful monitoring and evaluation of the previous/current project.
  14. The level of grants allocated will be dependent upon the funds available to the Care Development Grant Scheme.
  15. Consideration will be given to schemes, services available or funded in a geographical area to ensure a broad spread of services.
  16. The Steering Group reserves the right to determine the eligibility of all applications.
  17. Due regard will be given to the nature of the grants previously allocated to ensure a balance in the type of projects funded.
