
The Care Development Team (CDT) provides support for new and existing groups wishing to develop initiatives that support vulnerable adults in living independent, informed and fulfilled lives. The CDT is funded by Shropshire County Council.
There are two Care Development Officers:

- Sophie Griffiths (Shrewsbury and Atcham, Oswestry and North Shropshire) - 01743 342162
Members of the CDT are involved in a wide range of initiatives including:
- Groups who help prevent deterioration of people's health and well being
- Support for initiatives to reduce social isolation
- Measures to encourage community involvement in preventative work
- Work to stimulate initiatives that promote people's independence
- Fostering links between low level care services
The CDT offers a various support service including practical support and assistance to new groups wishing to develop preventative services such as:
- Good Neighbour Schemes
- Befriending services
- Disability and social support groups
- Advice and support to existing groups
- Training to suit individual groups
- Guidance and support for funding
- The CDT can help with access to a care development grant to support new initiatives. There is also a Falls Prevention Video available for health professionals/social care who work with older people.
- A member of the CDT is available to talk to local groups or organisations on Falls prevention and home safety.>
