Title: Charity Review

The Community Council of Shropshire is funded by Shropshire County Council to carry out an annual review of local grant-giving charities to find out whether there are any dormant or unusable funds in their bank accounts.

The reasons these funds are lying dormant may be because money can no longer be spent on their original purpose, perhaps because the beneficiaries no longer exist or social conditions in the area have changed. In some cases, the fund is so old that it has been forgotten!

Whatever the reason, CCS can offer advice and guidance on how to put the cash to better use. This may include winding up the original charity or amalgamating it with another one. Another alternative is to donate the funds to another cause although you will need the approval of the Charity Commission to do this.

Staff at the Community Council will give you all the help you need to proceed and the process is quite simple. To find out more, contact Jean Garner or Sue Mathews at CCS on 01743 360641.
