Membership of the Charity Trustees Network is open to all charity trustees, management committee members of voluntary organisations and community groups and directors of non-profit-making companies. Here is a brief explanation of what those titles mean:
- The members of a company's governing body are the company directors
- In a trust or charitable association they are trustees
- If the trust, association, company or industrial and provident society is charitable, the members of the governing body are charity trustees
- If the organisation is an unincorporated association, not a registered charity, but has a constitution, there will be management committee members
It does not matter what anyone is called, what matters is the powers and duties you have written in your organisation's governing document and under charity, company, trust and general law.
Membership of the Shropshire Charity Trustee Network will give you:
- A Newsletter with helpful updates on issues of relevance to trustees, such as the Charities Bill.
- Meetings with speakers on specialist subjects which are often a short-cut to getting the latest and best information and advice.
- Opportunities to meet with other trustees and share experiences and problem solve in a friendly and supportive environment.
- Provide your views on national developments that affect trustees, such as the creation of National Occupational Standards for trustees and management committee members.
- Find out about local learning and training opportunities for you and your fellow committee members.
- Information on the extensive range of books, videos, websites and national organisations that are there to help trustees and committee members.
