The Getting Qualified scheme is available free to members of voluntary organisations in Shropshire, including Telford and Wrekin. The scheme allows individuals who are paid or unpaid to study for National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) at level 3.
The NVQ is a work-based qualification that proves your level of competence and responsibility in that role. You do not have to go to college. A College Assessor will come to see you at work to observe how you carry out everyday tasks. You will be given assignments as a way of building up evidence of the work that you do and this will be used to judge your NVQ. You will have to include a range of activities at work and, for NVQ Level 3, you will have to show a degree of leadership in your area of responsibility, such a decision-making or supervisory duties.
The following NVQ subjects are available for study:
Accountancy Technician
Advice and Guidance
Business and Administration
Children's Care/Early Years
Customer Service
Direct Training and Support
Food Preparation
Health and Social Care
Hospitality and Catering
Learning and Development
Management
NVQ for IT users
Personnel Support
Retail Operations
Getting Qualified is the result of a partnership between Shropshire CVS Partnership, Telford and Wrekin CVS, Walford and North Shropshire College and Telford College of Arts and Technology.
