Shropshire Community Development Network
The Network enables communities of all kinds to achieve social change and justice by working together in ways which challenge oppression and tackle inequalities. It enables communities to identify their needs, opportunities, rights and responsibilities, to plan, organise and take action and to evaluate the impact of their action.
The Network aims to:
- Steer and support training and development for local community workers
- Identify the need for and provide training in community development skills and knowledge in local communities
- Share good practice between different community projects and community workers
- Map local community development work and community projects
- Arrange visits to different community projects
- Help with access to grants and other resources
- Promote local community development values and practice standards
- Develop local community development policy
- Persuade statutory, government and voluntary agencies to use community development as an effective way to achieve community cohesion and equality
Membership of the Network is informal, and open to people who define themselves as doing community work in Shropshire. The Network is open both to paid and unpaid community workers and community activists.
