Shropshire Voluntary and Community Sector Equality and Diversity Forum
The Shropshire Voluntary and Community Sector Equality and Diversity Forum was set up in 2004 to promote a more co-ordinated approach to equal opportunity and diversity among Shropshire's voluntary sector organisations across the county.
The original aims included:
- To act as a pressure group for good equality and diversity practice
- To identify and share good equality and diversity practice
- To provide information on equality and diversity to voluntary and community organisations
- To help voluntary and community organisations achieve high standards of equality and diversity practice
- To work together to challenge and reduce inequality and discrimination in the county.
- To collect, co-ordinate and represent voluntary sector views on equality and diversity issues.
- To influence equality and diversity policy and practice among voluntary, community, statutory, government and partnership organisations.
- To work with the public sector to set up and maintain high-quality awareness training for paid staff and volunteers.
- To develop and administer equality and diversity quality standards for the voluntary and community sector in Shropshire.
The Forum meets three or four times a year with a major topic - often with an invited speaker - and plenty of time for members to raise issues and concerns.
