Shropshire Carers employ three Mental Health Carer Support Workers to cover North Shropshire, Shrewsbury and Atcham and South Shropshire.
Their role is to support carers of people aged 18 to 65, either individually or in groups, who have severe and enduring mental health problems. They can support you by:
- Listening to your concerns
- Helping you to have a break from your caring responsibilities
- Keeping you up-to-date with benefits that are available
- Putting you in touch with others
- Empowering you in your caring role
They also provide practical and emotional support to carers and will identify other support agencies that may be able to help. In many cases, they will also liaise with other agencies on your behalf.
The Mental Health Carer Support Workers will also help you prepare for your Carer's Assessment.
